Simeon - Brown

A pretty wedding was solemnised on November 10 at the residence ci Mr and Mrs R. Thompson, Otiria, when Mr Kiri Simeon, son of Mrs Simeon (nee Marion Carr) and the late Mr Reuben Simeon, of Pamapuria, was married to Miss Harriet Brown, daughter of Mrs and the late Mr Percy Brown, of Kawiti. and granddaughter of the late Mr W*. Ngawati, a wellknown Ngapuhi chief. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. J. Simon Cotton, of Te Ahu Ahu, Ratana minister, assisted by the Rev. Chas. Taaua, of Pokapu. In attendance were the Ratana nurses. Mcsdames A. Ngawati, T. Cook. R. Popata. C. Taaua and P. Wiki. The hymn “Koutu Kaitoa” (“Come to the Saviour”) was sung by the Ratana Choir.

The bride, who was given away by her uncle, Mr E. Mihaka, of Otiria, wore a frock of white satin with silk

lace trimming, over which fell a pretty tulle veil caught at the head by a spray of orange blossoms. She carried a bouquet of white roses and mauve Canterbury bells. Silver shoes completed her toilette.

The bridesmaids, Miss Sophie Taua, cousin of the bride, and Miss Mary Daniels, wore dresses alike of pale blue marocain, and carried bouquets of white and mauve flowers. Mr Kingi Dudley, of Pamapuria, was best man, while Mr Philip Tahu, cousin of the bridegroom, was groomsman.

Over 500 guests were entertained. The three-tiered wedding cake was made by Mrs R. Thompson, and was accompanied by another cake sent by the bridegroom’s people, and made by Mrs Helena Tahu, of Pamapuria. There were also two cakes, also made by Mrs Thompson, to celebrate the coming of age of Mr R. Cook, of Otiria, her brother, and Mr R. Marsh, of Kerikeri, grandson of the late Mr Ngawati. Dance music was played by the Snowden Orchestra, and Mr B. Hcwhd was M.C. Mr and Mrs Simeon will reside at Kawiti. ENGAGEMENTS. The engagement is announced of Joycelyne Mavis, eldest daughter of Mrs C. McKinley and the late Mr C. McKinley, of Kara, to Gordon Frederick. eldest son of Mr and Mrs F. C.
