“House-Warming” For New Bargain Store Building

Within the next fortnight. Bargain Stores. Ltd., will be in occupation of their new building in Bank Street. An idea of the modern lines of the structure was gleaned by the 200 people who on Saturday night assembled at the tn vital ion of the staff in the form of a “housewarming” party.

The arrangements were in the hands of Misses R. Tibbits and a Shankland, and Messrs J. Connell and J. Hackett. who were assisted in the preparations by other members of the staff.

A section of the ground floor a? ' bare as it was. was transformed by : decorations into an attractive ball- | room, while in front of the tairway j a neatly laid out lounge was appreci- j ated by non-dancers..

Upstairs card tables were v. all pat- j ronised. and much pleasure was do- ! lived from games ranging from patience to mah jengg. A number also enjoyed table tennis. The decorations throughout were carried out with ferns and flags. Ray Goodison's orchestra war: responsible i for the music and Mr played extras. Entertainment was provided i by Mr Ken Ward (songs». Miss Me- : Cluskoy (clog dance)., and Miss R. j Purcell (tap dance). Early in the evening Mr .Jack Tude- | hope extended a welcome to the guests. The M.C.. Mr S. H. Wickans, • voiced thanks to the management and to the organisers of the function. That it was appreciated, he said, was shown by the large attendance.
