U.S. Shipping Warned Of Danger Of Attack
(Received 1 p.m.)
WASHINGTON, September 9,
The Navy Department has warned American shipping of the danger of attack by unidentified aircraft, service vessels and submarines in the Mediterranean.
Mr Cordell Hull, Secretary of State, in a statement later decried “promiscuous” interference with merchantmen, stressing that the Government had not ordered American shipping out of the Mediterranean, but assuming that American mariners would proceed cautiously.
