Mr And Mrs J. D. Roberts Married 60 Years
[Special to “Northern Advocate ” 3 After 60 years of married life, Mr and Mrs Frederick Diprose Roberts, of Cairnfield recently celebrated the diamond .iupilcc of their wedding day.
this old couple, aged 84 and 81 respectively, came originally from Tasmania, were in the Temora district in New South Wales for six years and have lived in New Zealand for the last 20 years. Mr Roberts is a retired farmer, leaving his property at Ruatangata two years ago to reside in Cairnfield Road.
Mr and Mrs Roberts reared a family of 11. eight of whom are still living. The two eldest sons. Frederick John and John Meryrick, lost their lives in the Great War, and the eldest daughter, Annie Constance, died at the age of 18.
The members of the family living are:—Clarence Vivian and Richard Warren, of Queensland: Randal Diprose, Kara: Charles Tasman, Whangarei; Mrs C. H. Tailor. Waikato; Mrs R. Whitsit. Kerikeri; Mrs W. J. Woods. Morrinsville, and Mary, who is matron of the public hospital in Samoa.
