Y.W.C.A. Activities

In spite of the very wet weather prevailing this week, the attendances at the various clubs have been well maintained. The gym. class, always a popular one amongst the girls, had a good attendance. After the usual half hour of gymnastics and team games, preliminary exercises in vaulting were taken. The popularity of this group is evident by the ever-increasing membership.

The Business Girls; Lyceum devoted their club night this- week to poster making and sign-writing and other activities connected with the Y.W.C.A. refreshment stall at the coming Winter Show. Badminton and table tennis were played for the first hour, after which the play readers had a rehearsal of their play. Next week being Show week, there will be no set programme for Thursday and members may arrange their own sets of badminton and table tennis.

The Friday Citizens were unfortunate in having a wet night for their hares and hounds. An alternate programme had been arranged, and this took the form of scenes from homes of other nations. Dolls of . all the other Y.W.C.A.’s in the world were made and dressed in their national costumes-under the expert supervision of Miss Lupton. The board of directors held a special meeting to finalise arrangements for the Y.W.C.A; afternoon tea and luncheon marquee at the Winter Show grounds. Soup and hot pies will be added attractions. By this means, the association is hoping to raise funds to enable them to carry on their work in the community. Members and their friends are asked for gifts of cakes and' also to patronise this effort. Opposite Athe Y.W.C.A. marquee there wall be a rest room-for mothers, fitted with heating. Hot water will be available-from the Y.W.C.A. tent and an attendant will be in charge throughout the day. AV' - V . „ A
