Dinosaurs In Fossil Garden
Within 100 miles of Calgary, in the so-called “bad ''lands” of the Red River Valley, have been discovered some of the finest existing fossil remains of the dinosaurs, which flourished millions of years ago in many parts of the earth. It is appropriate, therefore, that Calgary should have its Dinosaur Park, where life-size models in concrete of some of the five thousand identified members of the dinosaur species will be placed in the appropriate setting of a fossil garden. The work is being done slowly and carefully, and this year's programme includes construction of a model of the huge Brontosaurus. The park is situated on St. George's Island, and the work is being supervised by the Calgary Zoological Society. Excavation of fossil specimens from the Red River Valley goes on each summer, and many museums contain fossilised dinosaurs which once roamed what now are the Alberta plains.
