Work Of Lodges Installation Of Officers Combined M.U. Meeting. A combined meeting of the Loyal Kaitaia Lodge and Loyal Hokianga Lodge, M.U., 1.0.0. F., was held at Kaikohe on June 1, members being present from Maungatapere, Waipu, Dargaville, Kawakawa, Rawene, Kaitaia and Whangarei. The following were the presiding officers:—N.G., .Bro! ! G. C. Goodhew; R.S.N.G., Bro. Les. Ward, group officer; L.SJy.G., Bro, Bridge; V.G., Bro, H. R. Walls; R.S.V.G., Sis. Spender; L.S.V.G., Bro. A. Gray; LP.N.G-. Bro. White; Financial Secretary, Bro. MiUer; Elect Secretary, Sis. M. Blithe; Warden, Bro. Henderson; Guardian, Bro. Hall; Conductors, Bro. Norris and Bro. McFinlayson. The new officers for the incoming term were installed by Bro- K. C. Pepperell, P.G. Honours of the Order were awarded to the new officers and also to Brb; K. C. Pepperell, Bro. Les. Ward, group officer, and Bro. M. Ward, District Management, all of • whom suitably responded.
New Branch of 3MLTJ. L0.0.F. On May 29, a new branch of the Manchester Unity Order, yra® Pgeneil at Taipuha. The district officers were in attendance, the following officiating in ffie chairs for the new lodge Noble Grand, Bro, J. McKay, D.D.G.M.; J.P.N.G., Bro. S. ip. lEade, P.8.D.G.M.; V.G., Bro. Les Ward, group officer; Secretary, Bro. 1 M- Ward, 8.G., \Yltangarei; Elective Seerofgry, flf M. McGregor, P.G. 'Vy'aipu; ~R8.N.G., Bro. J. E. Allan, district treasurer; L.S.N.G., Bro. J. Mennie, P.G * Mt. Albert Lodge; B.S.V.G-, Bro. Webb, P.G., Avon Bodge: L.S.V.G., Bro- J. MpFiplayson, P.G., Waipu Lodge; Guardian, Bro. A. W. Plgisted, Whangarei Lodge; Warden, Bro. Firty-five candidates came forward, and, on the completion of the initiation ceremony, the Loyal Taipuha Lodge, No. was declaerd pppn. welfare of. lodge Will be in.die care of the first officers, who were duly installed in the chairs as follows:—N.Q., Bro. Bros: McKay, Allan and Fade addressed the officers and members p£ the Taipuha Lodge, wishing them a successful term of office and congratulating the Loyal Waipu Lodge on its efforts in spreading the principal of Gddfellowship.
Star of Whangarei Lodge, 1.Q.0.F. The two meetings?, .held during thp month, of the Star of Whangarei Lodge) No. B 9? 1.0.Q.P., N.Z., were again excellently attended. The N.G., Bro. J. McQ. W4ffi er presided.
At the’ meeting on June 1 the business was of a light I nature and at the conclusion, members and eleven visiters from K a wakawa Lodge, six from Kaikohe Lodgb a hd five from Star qf Hikurangi; participated in a bowls tourney. The final was fought out by teams from . Star of Whangarei and Kaikphe, tjie former winning by the narrow margin of six heads to five. Those members not taking part in the bowls played cards and table tennis. The serving of supper. brought to s a close a very enjoyable evening.
- The meeting pn June 15 was quarteri*ight night and resulted in a good attendance. At the conclusion of business the green was laid and some members enjoyed a knocktout game pf bowls and others played quoits and cards. Supper was served. A yisit was paid to Kawakawa Lodge during the month by the N-G. and four other members and a very enjoyable time was spent. ••■ , « U.A.O.D, Lodge. The fortnightly meeting of the Lodge Whangarei No. 38, was held on June 1, Bro. Calder, A.D., presiding over a good attendance of members. Bro. L. Madden, D.P. of No. 17 District, installed the newly-elected officers for the current term, the sitting officers at gresent being:—A.D.. Bro. Richards; J.P.A., Bro. Calder; V.A,. Bro. T. Moyle; 0.G., Bro. Roache;
1.G., Bro. Rodgers; A.D.B’s, Bros. J. Hills, A. C. Bevington; V.A.B’s, Bros. Dawson Jnr., J. D. Stack; M.C., Bro. Woodman, P.D.P. Two candidates were initiated into the Order by the A.D. and members present, and three new members were proposed, after which lodge closed and went into harmony. On June 15 the lodge met, a good attendance of members being present, Bro. Richards, A.D., presiding. After routine business, three new members were initiated into the Order, the new officers carrying Out their duties in a very creditable manner.
