One hundred years ago on Sunday, Princess Victoria of Kent was called from her bed in the early hours to be told that she- was Queen of England. The announcement was made by the Archbishop of Canterbury (Dr. Howley) and the Lord Chamberlain (the Marquis of Conyngham).
