POLITICIANS’ SPEECHES TOO LONG

Wanganui Farmers* Protests

[Special to “Northern Advocate ”] WANGANUI, This Day. At the monthly meeting of the Wanganui provincial executive of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union yesterday, protests were made against the long speeches delivered by the Act-ing-Prime Minister, the Hon. P. Fraser, and Sir Alfred Ransom at the annual inter-provincial conference held in Dannevirke last month. Mr A. P. Melville declared that much time was wasted by speakers not connected with the union. He moved that a protest should be made. The addresses given by Messrs W. W. Mulholland,' Dominion president, and W. J. Poison, were in order, as both were members of the union, tout Sir Alfred Ransom and Mr Fraser had both given very long speeches and had'taken up a great deal of time.

Delegates attended the meeting for the purpose of discussing remits, and nobody pould say that remits which had come up for consideration bn the last day had-received a fair hearing. The matter will be further discussed on receipt of remits from various branches.
