The annual Country Week hockey tourney was continued yesterday under very bad conditions, when the third round of the men’s competition for the 1 White Horse Cup was decided. No matches in the ladies’ section were played. Heavy rain fell throughout the . day, but the best series of matches in the tournament to date took ..place. King Country A and Waipa A played a most exciting and closelycontested game, the former side being successful by a one-goal margin after a splendid exhibition. The winners deserved their victory, adapting themselves better to the conditions, Whangarei Win Easily. , Another excellent contest was the match between Piako and Rodney B tdams, the match concluding in - d dyiaw:. afteh - a highly exciting finish- '. Whangarei had another easy victory, accounting for King Country B by 10 goals to three. Franklin A Overwhelmed Whakatane, while Rodney, last year’s champions, won by default fro'm Thames-Haiiraki. WHITE HORSE CUP. THIRD ROUND. A Section,—Franklin A 6 (S. Hunter 3, Doull 2, Cullum 1) beat Whakatane 0; King Country A 2 (Fleet 2) beat Waipa A 1 (A. Spires); Rodney B 4 (Langridge 3, Shepherd 1) drew with Piako 4 (Cricket 2, Stevens 1, Sterling 1). ' B Section. —Waipa B- C drew with Franklin B 0; Whangarei 10 (A. Byles 5, Bint 2, Draflin 2. Fyfe 1) beat King Country B 3 (Weller 1, Rogers 1, Lee 1); Rodney A won by default . from Thames-Hauraki. In the annual contest for the Kent Cup, Piako, the holders, successfully defended the trophy from Whangarei by one goal to nil.
