North Shore Club At Mt. Denby

The Whangarei Golf Club were hosts at the week-end to North Shore and a very enjoyable time was. spent at Mt. Denby in the course of the annual match between the two clubs. Altogether, 28 games were played, Whangarei winning 18, North Shore six and four finished all square. Results are (Whangarei names mentioned first): —G. Birnie beat H. Ibbotson, 3 and 2; J. Morton and S. Reid, all square; M. Fulton and E. Thwaites, all square; H. Younger beat W. Rees George, 2 up; R. Smith beat W. Blomfield, 1 up; W. A. Christiansen beat H. N. Preston, 1 up; M. Sheriff, lost to H. Goodwin, 3 and 2; S. Weston lost to H. J. Preston, 4 and 2; T. Sheen’beat Ray Potter, 2 and 1; R. Gray beat R. Fotheringham, 4 and 3; W. Surman beat T. Ellison, 5 and 4; L. Bird .beat K. Thompson, 5 and 4; R. Mirrielees and A. Whyte, all square; H. Wilson beat K. Potter, 1 up; H. Cormack lost to B. Macindoe, 2 and 1; Dr. Bqckley beat F. Potter, 2 up; D. J. Thomson beat L. Harrison, 3 and 2; J. Glanville beat W. Macindoe, 2 and 1; L. Johnson beat P. Neilly, 2 and 1. Potter, all square; Thomson and Glanville lost to Harrison and W. Macindoe, 2 and 1. WHANGAREI CLUB HANDICAP. The third round of the Whangarei Club’s handicap was played during the week-end. The medals, played for in conjunction were won by H. Younger (senior), 87—14 —73 and S. J. Wood (junior), 92—20—72. * Other good cards were those of C. B. Bevins, 88—15—73; R. Gray,’' 82—8 1 —74; W.
