. Splendid Film At Regent With Sqnja Henie, Queen of the Silvery Skates, executing dazzling dances on crystal ice and romancing with Don Ameche, Adolphe Menjou giving another hilarious performance, Jean Herscholt more lovable than ever, Ned Sparks in new laughs, the Rite Brothers running amusingly amok. Arline Judge cute, captivating and comical, Borrah Minevitch and his gang playing rhythms on their harmonicas, and Eiixie Dunbar, Leah Ray and Shirley Deane contributing beauty, “One In A Million” opened a season at the Regent Theatre on Saturday night. “One In A Million” tells a story of love sprinkled with fun and songs. The plot of Sonja’s first, screen triumph has to do with a troupe of American entertainers, in straitened ■ circumtances, who are travelling Europe under the wing of their ebullient manager, Tad Spencer (Adolphe Menjou). Double Star Bill At Plaza A double-feature programme commenced a season at the Plaza Theatre on Saturday evening. The films are “Midnight Court” and “Men In Exile” and the bill makes excellent entertainment.

With a cast headed by Dick Purcell, June Travis, Alan Baxter, Margaret Irving, Victor Varconi, Olin Howland, Veda Ann Borg, “Men In Exile” concerns the adventures of a former gangster who flees from an unjust accusation of murder to an island in the Caribbean which has no extradition treaty with the United States, to start life anew. He becomes involved wih a friend of the old days who is engaged in smuggling firearms and helping promote a revolution but his determination to go straight, is strengthened when he falls in love with the beautiful daughter of the hotel proprietress. “Midnight Court,” starring Ann Dvorak, is typical of those timely, out-of-'the-headlines pictures which Warner Bros, turn out so well. John Litel, an excellent actor who recently left Broadway for Hollywood, has the featured male role. Ann plays the part of a court stenographer who is horrified when one of the vagabonds in the line up turned out to be the brilliant lawyer who was once her husband. Liters regeneration with Ann’s aid, his exposure, and the breaking up of a gang of automobile thieves that has been terrorising the city, is the theme.
