Property Transactions In Kaitaia

What was rumour a few days ago with regard to movement in the property market at Kaitaia has now become fact. Mr J. T. B. Taaffe, who purchased from Mr D. Archibald, Senr., about a year ago the section on which Mr Bakalich’s billiard and hairdressing saloon stands in Commerce Street, has been sold at a figure which shows advancing values. The names of the purchasers have not been disclosed, but it is definitely given out that new concrete buildings are to replace the present structure and will extend in width over the full frontage (48 feet) part of which is at present vacant. The, plans, as far as they have been made, provide for a building on an ambitious scale and on the information available Kaitaia will receive a good lift along the road of progi’ess. It is reported that the section between the Post Office and Camish and Co.’s premises, owned by Mr G. Hill, has now been definitely sold at £2O per foot for the purposes of a Kaitaia businessman who aims at bringing his business up-to-date and placing it in such a position that he will be able to meet aggressive competition. Motor Garage Extensions.

Mr J. T. B. Taaffe, motor garage proprietor, is finding his premises far too small for his growing business and has in hand a scheme for extending the width of his premises by 20 feet on one side for the full length of the building and right back so as to connect up with a large storeroom at the back. > f On the other side, the building is also to be extended some feet, and, in carrying out the work, a good deal of reconstruction of the present building will be necessary. Mr Taaffe, with.his own mail and passenger vehicles to provide for, has for a long time past been handicapped by want of space and he will be remedying this state of affairs,' as well as providing for the extension of his garage and workshop business as soon as possible.
