Y.W.C.A. Activities

On evening the members’ council held their second monthly meeting in the Y.W.C.A. Clubroofns. Representatives from all clubs meet together in this group to discuss and plan programmes for their various groups. Arrangements were discussed for voluntary helpers at the Winter Exhibition where the Y.W.C.A. hopes to raise funds by serving afternoon tea. Club girls have a busy time ahead, with rehearsals for the Drama Festival in August and practices for an indoor sports gathering later in the year. In order to encourage more young pe pie to be physically fit and to take regular exercise, it was decided that the sports gathering should not be confined to Y.W.C.A. members. The formation of a concert party was also discussed and this should prove a popular part of the activities. A study of the purpose of the association and its relation to the planned programme brought an interesting evening to a close. “Potato Cuts.” “Potato Cuts” were the order of the evening for the Business Girls’ Lyceum this week. In -this craft, there is opportunity for mtich ingenuity and artistry and, in the near future, members hope to try their skill at the more difficult lino cuts. A “round-thc-fire” discussion completed a pleasant evening. The Friday Citizens spent their recreational time with folk dancing and team games, after which there was a combined business meeting of the two groups the “Crusaders” and the “Rambj lers.” Plans were completed for a j Saturday hike, and an indoor camp i fire.

The remainder of the evening was spent making dresses for dolls of all nationalities for a World Fellowship Display. The singing of “Follow the Gleam,” and “Taps” concluded a somewhat noisy and hilarious evening.
