CLUB’S BALL
Many Whangarei and district golfers had their eye on the ball on Wednesday evening, the ball in this case being a very bright evening at the Town Hall, when members of the Whangarei Golf Club were hosts. While the attendance was somewhat disappointing to those who had planned so successfully for the evening, they have the compensation of knowing that their labours were not in vain from the enjoyment point of view. A lot of work had gone into the decorations, and the result was a truly golf, atmosphere. Particularly effective was portion of a miniature course, which had pride of place below the stage. Narpes of holes at the Mount Denby Links, and apt variations of well-known golf terms were placarded round the walls. The cold night made dancing popular and the floor was usually fairly well filled. Ces. Wright’s band had charge of the music, which was much in demand.
A sit-down supper was served on % the stage. 5 The committee who worked so energetically to make the ball *the success it was, were Mesdames James Donaldson (president), black ring velvet; E. J.
