SCHOOL COMMITTEE. . Durinig the month the committee met to draw up estimates for re-sur-facing the assembly ground. The secretary reported that an incinerator and two barrels of material had come to .hand. . ... A letter was received , from the Auckland Education Board advising that an experimental deep-bore lavatory would be constructed, and, if successful, all the schopl lavatories wpul(jl be converted to the deep-bore system, ' ' • . Members of the committee expressed concern that the issue of free milk had not yet been extended to the Onerahi school! It was left for the chairman to continue his efforts to have the Onerahi school included in the scheme. It was decided to supply the pupils with hot cocoa for their midday meal. Portion of the unused horse paddock has now been ploughed and will be planted in potatoes in the spring. PERSONAL.. Mrs A. Hidgley and daughter Margaret left last week fpr their home at Ohinewai, near Huntly, after an enjoyable fortnightV. holiday in the district as the guest of the formers mother, Mrs M. J. Munro.
Mrs T. Cross, who is an inmate of the Whangarei District Hospital, successfully underwent an operation last week, and is now progressing favourably.
Miss Zoe Spratt is home again with her parents after a few months’ absence from the district. Mrs Broomfield and small son John returned home from Auckland on Sunday after about six months’ absence from the township. Mrs Broomfield’s many friends will he pleased to hear that she is now well on the road to recovery after her long and serious illness.
During the. term holidays, Mr Broomfield visited Wellington, where he attended the Teachers’ Conference held there in May.. '
