Maungatapere
There was another good attendance at the fortnightly euchre tournament at the hall on Tuesday, and the function was enjoyable as usual. Mrs W. Rowland was the most successful lady player The men's prize was annexed by Mr Eric Harman. Consolation prizes were awarded to Mrs P. Trigg and Mr B. Mason. The freehold of the general store was sold during the week, the purchaser being Mr Bell, of Taranaki, who will carry on the business so successfully conducted by Mr E. C. Walker for a number of years. Much regret is expressed in the impending departure of Mr and Mrs Walker, who have proved good citizens, and always willingly assisted in any project for the betterment of the district.
