WHANANAKI HULL NOT SPEEDWELL

The derelict hull which came ashore at Whananaki last week is definitely not the Speedwell, the launch which disappeared eight years ago with Mr E Walker, of Waitangi, aboard. The late Mr Walker’s son, Mr A. D. Walker, of Whangarei, yesterday Inspected what many believed to be the remains of his father’s launch. He found it to be a roughly built yacht, of very rugged lines, and constructed of heavy timber and plankings. It was 36 feet in length and apparently had, in its time, served as a general utility boat.
