FUNERAL MOB ATTACK VICTIM'S HUSBAND
NEW YORK MURDER
(Received 1.30 p.m.) " NEW YORK, April 1. Declaring that they are dissatisfied with his apparent alibis,, police have begun relentless questioning of a man named Gedeon as a move in the investigations into the mysterious triple murder in a fourth floor apartment of his wife, Mary, aged 54; her daughter, Veronica, 20; and a lodger, Frank Byrnes, 35. ‘ A* The women had been beaten and then strangled, while Byrnes had been stabbed six' times in the head and face with an ice pick or stiletto. A strange touch to the funeral of the victims was the action of ah angry mob Of 1000, who broke the police line and attacked the father, a shrunken little man, whose actions since the murder have been most strange. He has been spending his nights howling. Detectives pushed him into a motor car. Screaming women leaped on to the running board and attempted to seize him. The mob Was dispersed with difficulty by, mounted police. The murder continues to toe a nine days’ newspaper • wonder.
