Government Attitude to Labour Party Resolutions •? - ■ [Per Press Association. CooyHghtJ WELLINGTON, This Day. An, unequivocal declaration that the Government regarded resolutions passed by the annual conference of the New Zealand Labour Party as recommendations not as commands, was made by the Acting-Prime- Minister, the Hon. Peter Fraser, when addressing 500 delegates at the Town Hall last night. Mr Fraser said that the conference must definitely understand that any resolutions it might carry l t were not mandatory on the Gov- , eminent, which would regard them only as expressions of opinion, which the Government would consider and put into practice if It deemed advisable or necessary. . The conference was not open to the press, but it was stated subsequently that the delegates expressed their de- • site to do nothing to embarrass the Government. They gave an assurance that the resolutions of , the conference were intended merely as recommendations.
