Hauruia Shorthorn Stud Sale

While many will regret the breaking up of a milking stud of such prominence, the complete dispersal sale of the Hauruia Pedigree Milking Shorthorn herd, which has' been decided upon by the owners owing to special circumstances which necessitate their giving up dairying entirely, will be of Dominion-wide interest. Prior to 1935 a herd of between 80 and 90 cows was maintained, but in that year the herd was reduced by selling 50 cows, and again the following year further sales were made, the best cows in each instance being retained. These cows, together with heifers since calved, will be offered for sale. The nucleus of the Hauruia Stud was formed by the collection of a number of outstanding foundation cows conforming to the true Milking Shorthorn type and backed by good butterfat records.
