On Saturday last a pleasant social gathering was held at the roomy goodsshed at the Paparoa railway station, as a farewell to two popular young people who are leaving the district. Dancing was the order of the evening. During an interval in the programme, Mr J. Jordan made a presentation on behalf of the friends of Miss Ruth Efford (who is to be married) of a sum of money with which to purchase a souvenior/to keep her Paparoa friends in remembrance. Mr Jordan took the opportunity of tendering the good wishes of the company for all future happiness and prosperity in her new home, and in her married life. On behalf of Miss Efford, Mr M. Harrison suitably replied ,and expressed her gratitude for the presentation and good wishes. Mr Jordan also made a presentation to Mr L. Norager, of a travelling set, which was a tangible expression of the friendship and goodwill of those who had come to know and esteem him in business, and in social life, in his five years’ residence in the district, during which time he had proved a most useful citizen. Mr Norager is leaving the district to continue his trade in the city.
