Admitting the theft of numerous articles from various stores in the city, two married women, Rita Ella Ryan, aged 29, and Mary Ann Johnson, aged 39, were each sentenced to 10 days’ imprisonment by Mr W. R. McKean, S.M., in the Police Court this morning. Eight stores were visited all on the i morning of March 23. There were 11 charges and the total value of the goods was £l2 Is llj-d. The articles made a wide assortment and included two toy motor cars, one ping pong ball, a pair of gloves, tv/o powder compacts, one tin of tongues, one tin of herrings, one pocket watch, two cigars, two tins of gramophone needles, three spoons, one wooden egg cup, one piece of elastic, one toy gun, two children’s petticoats and a child’s coat.
