R. E. Bell, who is not yet IT years of age, yesterday won the & Auckland provincial golf championship when he beat the title- ' holder, 11. D. Brinsden, three and two. The provincial handicap eyent was won by E. L. Bartleet, of Middlemore, who beat E. G: Tallis, Titirahgi, five and four. Bell is a member of the Remuera Club, while Brinsden plays at Titi-. rangi. Apart from the schoolboys' championship, which he has won for the past two years, • Bell had never before competed in an open • , championship. He plays on a four : * > handicap.
The winner gave a fine exhibition all the . way, and never appeared to be troubled.
