Good Fishing. Mr H. Potts, a member of a party of Dargaville anglers,' found the deep-sea fishing good in the Bay of islands recently. Stolen Car Soon Recovered, The representative of an insurance company operating in Whangarei had his motor car stolen last week-end. The vehicle was removed from the vicinity of the Regent Theatre, but was recovered by the police next morning near the railway station. The car was suffering from carburettor trouble, which, was probably the reason why the vehicle was not taken further. Runaway Horse. A bolting horse caused a sensation in Bank Street yesterday afternoon, but, after passing between two cars and travelling along the pavement in front of the Post Office, it was captured. The animal was tied to a small tree in Rust Lane, and broke loose with »a trailing rope. It raced between two parked cars and became tangled, falling to the ground. Several pedestrians had narrow escapes, but the horse was caught without any damage being done. Slight damage was done to the cars between which the horse passed.

Closing To-morrow. All entries for the Mangawai Athletic Club’s Sports Meeting to be held on April 10, close to-morrow with the secretary, Mr. F. Jackson, ’Phone 9S, Mangawai. An attractive programme of track, field and chopping events has been arranged, and the race track has been graded and is in first-class order. The Mangawai Cup carries £B, the 100 yards £5 and 440 yards £4 10/-, the half mile £5 10/- and the mile £lO. Four chopping events will be contested. 788
