CARRUTH’S BRIDGE
(To the Editor)
Sir, —Do you not think it, would be a good thing if the Minister for Public Works, in his campaign against death traps, would drive along Porowini Avenue, turn into Maunu Road, be suddenly confronted with a threequarter bridge with abrupt rail, and then just miss a plunge -over? To many, no, I’ll say to every motorist, this particular spot is a potential source of danger, and the writer has almost come to grief by keeping to his side of the road. A thoroughfare such as Maunu Road, carrying all the traffic, as it does, should have a clear way, and such a blockage as this should be removed as speedily as possible. Let the accidents that have happened here be a warning and a demand to our council-to wake up and act, I am, etc., ALMOST.
