Whakapara Rugby League Club’s Meeting
The anhual meeting of the Whakapara Rugby League Club, held recently, proved that a spirit of progress pervades the administration of the code in this district. Mr W. Baker presided over an attendance of about 30. The report commented on the improved form shown by the team in the latter stages of last season, which resulted'in its being runner-up in the knock-out competition. The club also did well in the seven-aside tournament. The financial statement revealed a small credit. The official personnel is;—Patron, Mr J. McLennan; president, Mr Finlayson senr; secretary and treasurer, Mr Wykes; delegate to Northland Rugby League, Mr L. King; committee, president, secretary and Messrs L. King, E. Aldred and K. Davis; selectors, Messrs Wykes and Baker; coach, Mr A. Gardiner. • The club has sufficient players for a senior and junior team and intends to be represented in both grades. Its playing strength has been augmented by the advent of new blood and practices are to start immediately. The club’s colours, will again be blue and black.
