Higher prices are ruling in hide j markets thi’bughout the world, with stocks very low. Rearmament programmes have increased the demand for leather, and nearly all hide-pro-ducing countries on. the Continent have placed restrictions on the export of hides. Overseas operators have been buying at Auckland sales. The demand for Australian leather from overseas markets has also increased, and orders in hand by Australian and New Zealand tanners from overseas buyers are greater today than for many years past.
