250 People Attend R.S.A. Picnic

Later this summer than usual, on account of the infantile paralysis epidemic, the fourth annual picnic c-f the Whangarei Empire Ex-Service’s Association lacked nothing which its predecessors contained in the way of 'creating pleasure for members and their families.

Usually, this event takes the form of a down-the-harbour outing but on Saturday the High School grounds were the mecca of about 250 people. Young and old revelled in sports, tugs-of-war, tennis and swimming, while a happy-go-lucky cricket match, ladies v men, caused no end of amusement.

The picnic was a great success, thanks to most ideal' weather and splendid organisation, headed by the treasurer of the association, Mr. R. A. Rogers.
