Yacht Roxane To Cruise To Australia

The 26-foot E class yacht, which has been a prominent member of the Whangarei pleasure fleet for the past two years, has been sold by its owner, Mr A. Fisher and shortly leaves on a cruise to Norfolk Island, Lord Howe Island and Australia, visiting the Barrier Reef, where Mr Zane Gx*ey has been among the big game fish. The boat has been purchased by Messrs Wellington and Dawson, of Auckland, who are now engaged in altering her rig and preparing the extra gear needed for such a cruise. The mast is being shortened.

The Roxane was built by Messrs Tei’cel Bros., of Auckland,- two years ago. She was designed for deep-water cruising and Mr Fisher has not done any racing in her. She has a beam of eight feet and draws 4ft 6in.

Mr Fisher intends acquiring a bigger yacht within the next year or two.
