NOVITIATE FOR MAORI GIRLS

[Special to “Northern Advocate.’*! KAEO, This Day.

The Novitiate for Maori girls, which was opened by Bishop Liston on Wednesday at Waitaruke, was designed by Mr G. Tole. of Auckland, and erected by Mr F. Stokes. The building has every modern convenience and has a chapel, dormitories and quarters for the sisters.

The Novitiate is the first of its kind in New Zealand. Following the opening. the Mother Superior, Mother Francesca. with the sisters and novices, entered into occupation. The Boarders at the hostel were dressed in neat print frocks of blue and white check, while the novices were attired in the usual habit of grey serge with white collars, short black cape and pale grey veil.
