[Special to “Northern Advocate”l DARGAVILLE, Wednesday.

For the annual butterfat competition in connection with the forthcoming autumn show in February next, entries were considerably in excess of the previous years, there being 20 cows in the mature class, and 11 in the heifer division. The winner of the mature cow class was T. H. Aiken’s (Turiwiri) Smut, with 9tfl6Blbs. fat in 30 days. W. Kay’s (Hoanga) Ivy was second with 84.7201b5., and W. P. Begg’s (Arapohue) Minty, 72.3421b5., 3.

The winner of the heifer class was R. C. Goldstone’s (Turiwiri) Black Beauty, with 40.0081b5. fat for 30 days, T. H. Aiken’s (Turiwiri) Tui, 40.056 lbs., was second, and G. S. Webb’s (Arapohue) Queenie, 37.01Hb5., 3.
