Accompanied by his wife, whom he married in England. Mr H. F. von Haast. of Wellington, pro-chancellor of the University of New Zealand returned by the Awatea yesterday from a trip abroad. Mr von Haast represented New Zealand at the centenary celebrations of the University of London and at the Congress of the Universities of the British Empire at Cambridge. where he stayed with Lord Rutherford.

In Canada he had an interview with a prominent King’s counsel, who was one of the isolationists of the British Commonwealth Relations Conference at Toronto in 1933. and who stated that if the League of Nations failed, that would be the end of the British Empire.
