RUSSELL LADIES FOREGATHER
The Women’s Institute, Russell, mot on November 13. Mrs Warne, vicepresident, presided over a good attendance. The meeting opened with creed and song. The motto was: “Do not say all you know, but always know what you say.” Correspondence was read relating to visits to Russell by the Plunket nurse. It was announced that Mrs Kelso, Dominion organiser, would be present at the December meeting. It was decided to hold the annual picnic in January. The roll-call iws*s: “Where I was born, and the country I most want to visit, and why.” Some very amusing incidents were related. A demonstration of smocking, by Mrs Bradney, was very keenly followed. An interesting reading on “A City in Salt,” was given by Mrs Campi, and a pianoforte solo by Mrs Warne. The competition waif for the best article made from material supplied by the Institute for the charity parcel, the winners being Mrs Adamson first, and Miss Simpson second. The hostesses were Mesdames Campi, Vipond and Warne.
