DARGAVILLE LINE
“The matter is of dire importance to the. whole of the North,” said Mr H. W. Crawford, in reference to the Dargaville railway, later in the conference.
Mr Crawford said that when the Hon. R. Semple was in the North he had stated that the railway would be 'finished, but this fact had not yet been officially confirmed from Wellington. Mr Crawford considered that the associated chambers should put forward definite views on the matter.
Mr W. Berry (Kaitaia), the secretary, said that Mr Semple had communicated with the chamber, stating that he would put the chamber’s views before the Government when the matter was being considered.
Mr H. F. Guy moved that the Government be communicated with immediately, stressing the importance of completing the railway. Mr G. E. S. Brodie seconded the motion, which was carried unanimously.
