McMAHON APPEAL DISMISSED
(United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph. — Covyright.l (Received 1 p.m.) LONDON, October 26. George Andrew McMahon, sentenced to 12 months’ hard labour in connection with the Hyde Park Corner incident, appealed against his sentence. He was not represented by counsel before the Court of Appeal, submitting his own case. The Lord Chief Justice, Lord Hewart, declared that McMahon naturally had not quarrelled .with the very lenient sentence passed on him. There was nothing in the summing up against which criticism could be made. McMahon had not, in substance, denied the alleged act. Lord Hewart described McMahon’s defence that he had been instigated by a foreign Power as a cock and bull story. The appeal was dismissed in less than five minutes.
