NINE BANDS COMPETE IN CONTESTS
PLACINGS IN THE VARIOUS EVENTS; MUSICAL TREAT FOR WHANGAREI
mjIXE bands stirred - Whangarei with their music over the weekly end w hen they took part in the several contests arranged as a preliminary to the gymkhana proper which was held at Kensington Park today. Three contests, the quick step, the selections, and the hymn tunc contest were held, and the placings in each were as follows:

The Onehunga Band was only two points below the possible for music.

Onehunga Municipal, 91 points, .... 1 Te Awamutu Municipal, 90 points, .... 2 Whangarei Municipal and Mt. Eden Boys’, 89 points, .... 3 STREET MARCHING CONTEST. Onehunga, 2301 points 1 Te Awamutu, 222 points 2 Balmoral, 138 points 3 The other bands came in the following order: Whangarei Municipal 212, Mt. Eden 2101, Takapuna 208, Auckland Waterside Band 205, Whangarei Boys’ 205, Kaikohe 1951. The Bargain Store Cup for this event was presented to the winning band by Mr H. W. James. * , AGGREGATE POINTS. The aggregate points prizes for the whole contest were won by Onehunga in the B grade, and Mt. Eden Boys’ in the C grade.
