Landon, Republican candidate for the Presidency, set forth this evening his foreign policy. He advocated;— CD 1 The maintenance of peace by mediation and arbitration. (2) Legislation to render war profitless. (3) The restoration of international confidence in the American Government’s good faith. (4) Scrupulous fairness in dealing with other countries. (5) The lowering of trade barriers to aid in the re-establishment of healthy world economic conditions. Mr. Landon’s main point was: “We must mind our own business.” He declared the League of Nations to be a failure. Also, he said, the United States could not participate in the political World Court of International Justice, some of whose judges represented dictatorship. Mr. Landon asserted that policies of isolation and neutrality were not absolutely guarantees of peace. He was opposed to specific anti-war pledges, as they encourage aggressions, which migfit ultimately involve the United States.
