There was a large attendance for the opening day of the Waipawa Racing Club’s spring meeting at Hastings today. Results:—
Hollycombe Hurdles, of SOsovs., one mile and a-half.— (3) Taura Lad, 9.2, 1; (1) Lord Hereford, 10.3, 2; (2) Monarchy, 9.0, 3. Red' Rufus and Tahoma were scratched. One and a-half lengths; a neck. Time, 2.51.
Otane Flying Handicap.— (5) Quake, 8.5, 1; (2) Lacquer, 8.9, 2; (4) First Chapter, 8.10, 3. Mohua and Chat were scratched. Half a length;one and a-half ‘lengths. Time: 1.16.
Imperial Plate, of 65 sovs; weight 8.7; six furlongs.—(l) Lueullus Lad, 1; (6) En Vidette, 2; (5) Silver Tide, 3. Gaelic Song* and Pirp were scratched. Two length's; three-quarters of a length. Time—l.l7. Waipawa Cou'nty Handicap, of 100 govs., one mile and a-quarter.— (4) Soho, 7.7, 1; (3) Granvale, 7.7, 2; (1) Passionflower, 9.7, 3. Royal Bengal was scratched. Half a head; half a length. Time, 2.9)
