SPRING BALL AT HUKERENUI
Seldom has the Hukerenui Hall preisented such a gay appearance as on •the occasion of the very successful Spring Ball, organised by the young people of the community. Multi-col-oured streamers formed a canopy above the decorations of nikau palms and lycopodium, while a most novel and attractive effect was obtained by art panels depicting gambolling lambs and other evidences of spring time. The music, supplied by Mr C. Wright’s orchestra, added greatly to the festive spirit. A balloon dance caused much amusement, and a carnival masquerade with confetti and streamers, added a colourful touch to the already gay scene. The hall was crowded with visitors from near and far, and great credit is due to the committee for the smoothlyorganised way in which the programme was carried out under the direction of Mr H. Rouse. These young people have certainly earned the thanks and admiration of the whole district. The hostesses were Misses M. Swannell, in floral taffeta; E. Witten, black velvet; M.
