The New Zealand golf tournament was continued at the Ngamotu links todayi when the 157 competitors faced the starter for the second round of the open championship. Many of the noted players were scheduled to start late. Moss was not due out until 1.20; Shaw with Wood at 2.10, while the 1935 champion (Murray) was scheduled to leave the mark with J. P. RETURNED SOLDIERS AT GOLF WHANGAREI TOURNAMENT NEXT MONTH Next month a golf tournament in which returned soldiers from any exservice organisations in the country will be eligible to take part, will be played on the Mt. Denby Links, Whangarei. Arrangements for this event are now being carried out and so far notices have been sent to all clubs and returned soldiers organisations in the North. A number of fine trophies have been donated and it is expected that a most enjoyable tournament will result. Old soldiers will have ihe opportunity of fighting battles anew, both on the links and afterwards. Among the events will be a championship for the best gross score over 36 holes, and for the best net score over 36 holes. In the morning a Stableford competition over 18 holes and in the afternoon a bogey match pver 18 holes will be played. There will also be a teams match for teams of four, of players from the same units. Altogether five events will be played in conjunction. The.tournament will be held on November 22.
