ARABS TO APPEAL FOR ARMISTICE ?
PROCLAMATION WITHIN 24 HOURS?
[United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph. — Copyright .] (Received 10 a.m.) LONDON. October 7.
The Jerusalem correspondent of the “Manchester Guardian” says it is reliably reported that the Higher Arab Committee will issue an armistice proclamation within 24 hours. This arises from the mediation of the Arab King, Ibn Saud, who approved the text of the proclamation yesterday. Yassin el Hashimy, Prime Minister of Irak, suggested a modification, however, hence the slight delay. It is understood that the proclamation will appeal for an armistice only, after which the Arabs will await some indication of Britain's “good intention” for a final settlement.
A British Official Wireless message says that the Palestine Royal Commission held its first meeting yesterday in private. It was devoted to a discussion of questions of procedure and other preliminary matters.
