MASTER COLLAPSED AND DIED. pi :V ■ . W: While wrestling in the common room this morning, Mr J. L. I. Newhook, science master at the Auckland Gram<r-. i mar School, collapsed and died. He had complained earlier of feeling un--1 well. He joined the staff in 1911, and was one of the most popular masters. WORK FOR 284 MEN. The Auckland City Council has selected 284 men for work made possible by a loan of £377,000, recently sanctioned by the ratepayers, a start to be made on Monday. The whole of P the loan was taken up by one Auckland financial institution at 3| per cent.' interest.
