When beating up the whites of eggs, add a tiny pinch of salt. This will make them fi'oth much more quickly, and also make the froth stiffer.
Put a small cup of breadcrumbs tied in muslin with the cabbages when cooking. The bread absorbs all the bitter juices, and the cabbage is digested quite easily. The breadcrumbs absorb almost all the odour of the cabbage-
To prevent the juice boiling over in a fruit tart, and so staining the sides of the dish, never omit to make a hole in the upper crust. Insert a straw perpendicularly, and the steam will escape as through a chimney.
An inexpensive cleaner for the bath is a mixture of kerosene and whiting, applied with a soft cloth and washed off with soapy water.
