4 (Sent in by Flora Attwood, Kara.) What a Watch. * Ship’s officer <as ship’s bell clangs): “There goes eight bells. It’s my watch below!” Dear old gentleman: “How remarkable. Fancy a watch striking so loudly. Where can I get one?” Cautious Does It. It was time when little boys should be in bed, .and Jimmy’s father* was surprised to see his young son going up the stairs three at a time. “Why are you going up the stairs three at a time?” asked his whose meanness was one of his faults. “To save the carpet .and so save your money,” was young Jimmy’s bright reply. “Good boy!” his father beamed and then added cautiously: “But mind you don’t split youn trousers!” A Long Bide. “Did you know, Billy, that out in America they have houses and buildings twenty to thirty floors high?” said teacher one 'morning. “Oh!” cried Billy. “I wish they had them that high in here.” “Why?” asked his teacher in surprise. “Well, sir, look at the long ride I would have down the bannisters.”
