QUEBEC, June 11
AS a Sequel TO xne iiiquuj imu uuvcrnment accounts, Mr L. A. Taschereau, who has been Liberal Premier of Quebec for 15 years, resigned today. He named the Minister of Public Works, Mr J. Adelard Godbout, as his successor. The Legislature was dissolved and the general election was fixed for August 15. The inquiry reveals that Mr Taschereau’s brother, Antoine, accountant for the Government, deposited Government funds with his bank manager’s son, who drew 3 per cent, interest on the money, but returned the Government only 1§ per cent. The Attorney-General, Mr Chas. Lanctot, K.C., resigned when the commission of inquiry heard hints that he was too friendly with men convicted as swindlers. ■ ___ ——
