WILL THEY RESIGN THEIR SEATS?

MR THOMAS AND SIR A. BUTT

(Received 11.30 a.m.)

LONDON, June 7.

The political correspondent of the “Morning Post” states that informal representations are being made to Mr J. H. Thomas and Sir Alfred Butt that their inevitable embarrassment in facing the House of Commons on June 11. when it will discuss the Budget tribunal’s report, would be relieved by their resignation. Negotiations are proceeding between the Government and Opposition, with the object of finding a resolution which could be unanimously adopted. The resignations of Mr Thomas and Sir Alfred Butt, it is pointed out, would not prevent either seeking reelection at the consequent by-elec-tions.
