LAID TO REST
THE LATE MRS J. T. WALKER.
The funeral of the late Mrs J. T. Walker took place at the Maungakaramea cemetery this morning. A long cortege of upwards of 50 motor cars left the late home after a short religious service had been held. The deep respect, in which deceased was held was evidenced by the. large attendance at the graveside. The burial service was conducted by the Rev. W. Elliott and, on behalf of deceased’s husband,. Mr C. G. Gauntlett, a relative of the family, made feeling reference to the cheerful and beautiful Christian life deceased had led. Verses from the 14th chapter of Revelation and the 17th chapter of John were read to illustrate the reference which Mr Gauntlett made to the deceased’s Christian life. A beautiful array of wreaths adorned the bier. The children from the school stood at attention on the roadside and saluted as the hearse passed. This was a mark of respect from the younger generation, on whose lives deceased had had an uplifting influence.
