FATAL HEAD INJURIES

MOTOR CYCLISTS CRASH [Per Press Association.—Covyrlaht 1 CHRISTCHURCH, This Day When riding a motor cycle, Mr Reginald Foster Painter, aged 27, of Barfield, received fatal head injuries as the result of a collision with a train at a crossing in the centre of Rakaia township on Saturday afternoon. Mr Painter was returning from a football match in Rakaia, and went through a gap in some trucks. Shunting was being done at the station, and although Mr Painter was travelling very slowly he hit an engine passing on another line of rails. He could not save himself, and it is thought that his head struck the engine near The firebox. He died 40 minutes after the accident. He was a single man, and a carpenter by occupation.
