LONDON NAVAL TREATY

FORMAL SIGNING ON TUESDAY (Received 10 a.m.) LONDON, March 21. The First Committee of the Naval Conference has approved the final text of the treaty drawn up by the drafting committee, and the formal signing will take place on Tuesday. South Africa reserved the right to sign as an independent country. Ireland will not sign, as she feels that the treaty should be confined ,to the Naval Powers.

A message from Rome says the Chamber approved the Naval Budget of £26,830,000 for 1936-37. Admiral Cavagnari, Under-Secretary of the Marine Department, said that Italy would abstain from signing any naval agreement until the unrest in Europe had subsided.
